New York Jets offensive lineman Xavier Newman was carted off the sector on a backboard Sunday after a collision towards the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Newman remained down on the sideline for a number of minutes after the collision within the third quarter. Gamers from each groups surrounded Newman as play stopped for a number of minutes. He was positioned on a backboard by medical employees and brought off the sector on a cart by paramedics. NBC’s Melissa Stark reported that medical employees eliminated his facemask as they tended to him on the sector and that he was aware.
Stark later reported that Newman had motion in his limbs and was being transported to a neighborhood hospital in Pittsburgh. The Jets ruled him out of the game with a neck injury.
The damage befell within the third quarter on an interception thrown by Aaron Rodgers on a go bobbled by Garrett Wilson. Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. intercepted the ball and returned it 41 yards to the Jets’ 1-yard line.
Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen made contact with Newman (No. 65, above) whereas blocking on the return. Newman went tumbling to the sideline and remained down till he was taken off the sector on a stretcher.
Play resumed after Newman was take off the sector with the Steelers main, 16-15.
